Acknowledging The Creative Coast Alliance (TCCa) for operating in the capacity of a creative and technical business clearinghouse, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) presented its Technology-Based Economic Development Award to TCCa at IEDC’s Annual Conference, which took place in Chicago, Illinois, September 25-28.
TCCa also received an Honorable Mention in the Research/Report General category for the TCCa: 2004 Economic Summary and Analysis. The document reflects TCCa’s development of a methodology to specifically isolate and measure the activity of what are known as “knowledge-based businesses.” This methodology was unlike other typical “technology” sector analyses in that it included the “creative” industries as well: graphic and visual design, art and photography, media production, and many others.
Presented by TechLINKS, the only technology-focused media company serving the state of Georgia, the annual Georgia LINKS Award is widely known throughout the state’s technology community. Given to individuals whose actions have impacted not only their local communities but have made a difference at the state level too, the award recognizes hard work and great vision.
The Janice Gantt Small Business Champion Award is given by the Savannah Small Business Chamber to outstanding advocates who have made significant community contributions in support of small businesses.
For his efforts in establishing The Creative Coast Alliance, Chris Miller was inducted into the Swedish Academy of Entrepreneurship during a economic development mission to Sweden in early 2007. Headquartered in Vaxjo, the SAoE acts as a positive force for developing and promoting entrepreneurship in Sweden, focused in the region of Smaland. Miller was invited to join the board of directors which includes the Mayor of Vaxjo, local business leaders as well as and executives from Drivkraft, Företagsfabriken, Ericson, Volvo and Ikea.
Oh, no we didn’t… TCCa gets political!
