The Savannah College of Art and Design exists to prepare talented students for careers in the visual and performing arts, design, the building arts, and the history of art and architecture. The college emphasizes learning through individual attention in a positively oriented environment. The goal of the college is to nurture and cultivate the unique qualities of each student through an interesting curriculum, in an inspiring environment, under the leadership of involved professors.

The Savannah campus offers 69 degree programs with a full university experience in one of the largest and most renowned National Historic Landmark districts in the United States. SCAD has taken a leadership role in preserving historic Savannah. Since its opening in 1979, the college has grown to occupy approximately 2 million square feet in nearly 60 facilities throughout Savannah’s historic and Victorian districts. Adaptive reuse of many remarkable structures has helped preserve an important part of Savannah while providing the college with unique facilities that serve as a living laboratory for the study of the arts, architecture and design.
