Job Description:
Under general direction, audits entries and freight bill records, assist in training personnel, and coordinates the transfer of appropriate documents to U.S. Customs brokers for the proper entry, duty assessment, classification, and release of import shipments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures processes and procedures are followed for compliance with U.S. Customs regulations
Performs post-audits of all records that relate to Customs entries, i.e. Accounting........., Purchasing, import documents, freight bills, etc.
Establishes and maintains pre-class identification with U.S. Customs on all parts imported and ensures information is transmitted to Customs Brokers timely.
Pre-audits purchase orders to ensure assist do/do not apply
Classifies commodities according to proper harmonized system code and MOD Act regulations for items not in pre-class database.
Maintains knowledge of recent developments of U.S. Customs regulations through periodicals, the internet, updates training, etc. and advises Management of any changes.
Learns and applies Lean concepts within functional responsibility.

Additional Functions:
Assists Traffic/Import Coordinator with Information System input, loss/damage claims, and U.S. Customs entries audits, to include traffic discrepancies to Accounting for non-compliant shipments
Assists Group Lead in compiling freight reports and responsible for process-related accruals
Maintains record of import broker accuracy, identify and resolve root causes
Ensures job-related procedures are established and updated
Performs other duties as assigned

Experience/Education Requirements:
High school graduate, GED, or equivalent
Computer literate including extensive knowledge of Microsoft programs, Internet and Mainframe applications
Five (5) years related experience to include at least (4) years in Imports
Knowledge of U.S. Customs harmonized tariff/regulations, and NAFTA
