GIS Intern

Part Time - $10.64/hr

Gain practical experience in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and global positioning systems (GPS) while working on various map projects for County Departments. 16-35 hrs/wk, Flexible schedules. Currently, there are 2 openings for students familiar with ArcGIS software, etc. GIS Interns will help operate and maintain the County’s geographic information system (GIS) base maps, parcels, ownership, roads, subdivisions, rights-of-way, zoning, and tax digest correcti........................ons, updates data in GIS database; enters mapping parcel data from deeds, plats, plots, surveys, or other sources into GIS system. Hours worked are between 8:30–5:00, M-F.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in GIS, cartography, computerized mapping, or a related field; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/ or training involving GIS operations, cartography, and computerized mapping; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must have working knowledge of ESRI products including but not limited to ArcGIS 9.2, ArcInfo, ArcView. Must be a student in good standing at an accredited college or university with coursework in geography, geographic information systems, computer science or a related field.

Information System Specialist

Starting salary - $16.46/hour

The purpose of this classification is to provide the various county departments with hardware and software maintenance and support for all computer systems and associated networking and communications infrastructure. This position is also responsible for network configuration, product research, and basic network and database design. Performs related work as required.
