&lt;br /&gt;The statements below describe the scope of responsibilities and essential job duties of this p........................osition, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements. Incumbent may perform other duties as assigned.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Responsible for conducting a backlog survey of unprocessed collections using a Microsoft Access-based survey tool.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Under the supervision of the Senior Archivist, process collections in the backlog using basic processing techniques and DACS single level optimum description in finding aids, MARC records, and EAD records.   &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;As part of the library team, work scheduled reference hours, perform bibliographic instruction and library orientations for new patrons, and answer written and oral reference requests. Participate in planning and work with the entire Georgia Historical Society staff to ensure integration of library/archives component into the mission and goals of the Society.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Supervisory responsibilities: none.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Experience/Skills required
&lt;br /&gt;Knowledge, skills and abilities: Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team, to organize and prioritize work and act with initiative and good judgment.  Must be a self-starter with flexibility and a willingness to get the job done.  Excellent writing, editing, and proofing skills, along with excellent problem solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.  Must be able to work well under pressure and with attention to detail.  Must represent the Society in a professional manner and be able to work well with diverse groups of people including patrons, board members, donors, volunteers, and staff.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Education: ALA-accredited Masters of Library Science with a concentration in archival studies or a bachelors degree and 2 years of experience in an archives department of a public, academic, special library, or historical society.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Required Experience:	Minimum of two years professional experience in archival repository; demonstrated knowledge of archival arrangement and description standards including Describing Archives: A Content Standard, Encoded Archival Description, MARC 21 , AACR2r, and Library of Congress subject headings;  demonstrated use of creating/updating MARC records in OCLC.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Preferred Experience:	Familiarity with integrated library systems and Microsoft Access databases.&lt;/p&gt;

Maintain donor and contribution spreadsheets and related documentation and files (contact lists, appeals, mailings, etc.).  Ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data and files.  In conjunction with the Grants and Development Manager, manage detailed planning calendar for Georgia Historical Society events and development activities to ensure internal coordination/deadline adherence.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&#8226;	Database Maintenance:  Develop and maintain data (and database) in Raiser&#8217;s Edge for all GHS events (Georgia Days, Annual Giving appeal, etc.)  Prepare event specific reports for departmental use (gift detail reports, summary reports, etc.)  Reconcile database financial information with accounting on a quarterly basis.  Maintain and regularly update database of contacts.  Ensure paper files exist to backup electronic data.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&#8226;	Communications:  Provide lists generated from database for publications and other uses.  Work with fulfillment house for annual giving campaign and other large mailing campaigns.  Maintain contacts related to media/outreach.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Qualifications: 
&lt;br /&gt;Knowledge, skills, and abilities: Must be detail-oriented and possess organizational and problem solving/trouble shooting skills.  Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.  Must be able to coordinate multiple tasks in a thorough and comprehensive manner.  Must possess initiative and the ability to exercise good judgment.  The ability to remain calm, productive, and pleasant in a job that includes numerous projects, responsibilities, and tight deadlines is essential.  Interest and/or background in history or historic preservation a plus.&lt;/p&gt;

Primary responsibility for the logistical coordination of the organization&#8217;s various events, meetings, and conferences.  Events will include program and fund raising events, special events, etc.  Make travel and food &amp; lodging arrangements as requested.  Schedule logistical meetings.  Book facilities as directed, work with service contractors, maintain registrations/attendee lists.  Coordinate with hotels, caterers, transportation companies, etc.  Manage on-site arrangements.  Negotiate contracts with vendors as directed. Act as a project manager for special projects which may include: disseminating information, organizing company wide events, and creating and sending invitations.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;&#8226;	Assist with financial matters.  Maintain petty cash box.  Maintain spreadsheet of checks received on a daily basis.  Complete check requests on a daily basis.  Copy and mail checks twice per month.&lt;/p&gt;
