This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of eight years experience in a chemical or related operation with direct environmental responsibility, including negotiations with State and Federal Agencies. A thorough knowledge of US and Georgia State Environmental Regulations is also mandatory. This position will provide leadership, technical and regulatory expertise in the environmental area for the pla...............nt. This individual is accountable for the supervising and reporting of all environmental activities at the Savannah facility with the responsibility of negotiating construction and operating permits with the Georgia EPD. This position is responsible for directing the facility actions to achieve compliance with all environmental rules and regulations. This includes directing and updating pollution control procedures for the facility to monitor and report regulated parameters, and to also include developing and implementing procedures to accurately forecast potential problem areas. This position is also accountable for directing and coordinating activities involving industrial hygiene and waste disposal. Specific job accountabilities include but are not limited to: 1. Manage all plant environmental issues, including, but not limited to: permitting, pollution prevention, environmental regulatory compliance, training, inspections, reporting, auditing and contractor compliance 2. Monitor and resolve industrial hygiene issues as they relate to environmental factors. 3. Compile statistics, prepare reports and maintain appropriate compliance records. 4. Manage appropriate documents and filings with government agencies. 5. Directly interface with State and Federal environmental bodies to negotiate environmental permits or achieve mutual agreement on projects and compliance with these rules. This will include liaison with Corporate Environmental, Corporate Legal and consulting engineering companies. 6. Maintain liaison with Engineering regarding construction of any plant equipment. 7. Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and Technical personnel to explain changes in procedures dictated by changing environmental regulations.
