Verrochio is a nickname for an artist that was thought to possess true vision and a mastery of his craft. That was ultimate goal for the company that I started. I managed projects for ten clients and worked with other companies and freelancers to create brands, web sites and advertisements. Along with two other supervisors, oversaw the use and maintenance of all equipment, labs and facilities in the Media Arts dept., which is comprised of the University’s photography, film & video, and animation programs.
This included four b&w darkrooms (50 enlargers), a color darkroom (Colex processor, 18 enlargers), Final Cut and Avid editing suites, two professional artist galleries, two computer labs, a dub room, sound rooms, three animation labs, screening rooms, film and photo studios, and an array of cameras, lights, sound equipment, printing supplies and re-sale items.
• Wrote, produced and directed a series of films which have become required viewing to orient students and faculty with equipment, facilities and procedures.
• Worked with students and faculty to ensure proper use of facilities and to calmly troubleshoot any technical problems with equipment, facilities or software.
• Managed 40 work-study students: created schedule for an 85-hour work week, trained students in all aspects of dealing with equipment and facilities.
• Worked with the gallery director on all aspects of installing and deinstalling bi-monthly shows in the department’s two professional photography galleries.
• Researched, recommended and facilitated all purchases and repairs of cameras and equipment for the film & video program.
• With co-workers, initiated a complete overhaul and redesign of the equipment inventory and borrower databases to create a more dynamic tracking system that will enable a more efficient and accurate checkout procedure.
