Desktop Publisher, Information Designer, Editor

After four years of study in the English field, earning my BA and MA along the way, I have grown to be passionate about the English language--especially crafting, editing and ultimately formatting effective copy from it.

My husband and I just moved to Savannah from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the end of May, and I have been working remotely as the senior publications assistant for Clemson University's Graduate School, allowing me to work wherever I have an Internet connection and cell phone r.........eception. As convenient as the job is, I miss the camaraderie and accountability of working in a dynamic and creative office setting.

I do want to stretch and push to make my best work even better; I want to surprise myself and others with my abilities through continuing to learn and grow as a professional. And now that my husband's job has informed us that we will stay in Savannah for a significant amount of time (as opposed to previous year-long stints in different cities), I have the opportunity to do just that.

I'm essentially a desktop publisher and information designer rolled into one that has a scrutinizing eye when it comes to grammar, mechanics, white space, consistency and balance, and I'm ready for a challenge!

Editorial Assistant

I am a recent college graduate pursuing a career in editing.

I have significant experience with writing and editing from my time as an English minor, as well as a writing center coach, at Saint Michael’s College. During my college career, I have enrolled in a number of classes which included participation in writing workshops. Most recently, my fiction writing workshop course allowed me to not only create my own fictional piece, but also explore and critique the writing of others. Working a............t the Writing Center has given me the chance to guide writers... at various stages of the writing process: clients consult me for assistance with brainstorming and sifting through ideas, clarifying and reorganizing their work, fine tuning and checking for errors, along with a variety of other issues.

During my college career, a number of classes as well as a grant from NASA allowed me to become familiar with the research process. Conducting my own studies has honed my ability to review and annotate existing literature, creatively develop my own experiments, recruit and interact with participants, collect data and write.

My incredible work ethic would be exceptionally valuable while working in the editorial field. As my many years working as a library assistant have demonstrated, I am able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously, work efficiently, while maintaining an eye for detail. My familiarity with periodicals and other published materials could certainly prove useful. I am also skilled with using a variety of computer applications to complete tasks such as data entry, word processing, scanning documents, editing, ordering supplies and conducting research online.
