Calling All Businesses “We Need Your Help to Save the Pets of the Creative Coast
(Savannah, GA) August 3, 2007 – Since 2003, Coastal Pet Rescue has rescued over 600 pets, but they need your help. Savannah is continuing to be a breeding ground for the overpopulation of cats and dogs. You’ve probably seen them yourself, patrolling the cities, allies, garbage cans and even in your own yard in search of food and water. But your business can help Coastal Pet Rescue’s efforts.
With your donation or volunteer work, Coastal Pet Rescue can continue to help curb the raining of cats and dogs in the city of Savannah. According to the United States’ Human Society, six to eight million animals are admitted to homeless shelters each year. Of these, about three to four million are lucky enough to find loving homes. But what about the rest of these animals? About three to four million are euthanized each year in order to make room for the next “batch” of animals coming in from the streets.
That’s why Coastal Pet Rescue is committed to saving these animals. Some of the services they are providing to Savannah are: pet rescue to homeless pets through local county animal shelters, placement assistance for owners needing to find their pets a new home and a feral cat trap-neuter-release program. In 2005, this program was adopted to help community members gain control of feral cat colonies and limit reproduction. Feral cats are trapped, taken to the vet for sterilization and rabies and returned back to their colony. In addition, CPR also serves as an educational resource to the community by providing educational opportunities and low-cost microchipping clinics to help reunite owners with their lost pets.
However, they can only continue their good work through the help of local businesses and people just like you – people who care about pets. Coastal Pet Rescue is a non-profit organization and receives funding for its rescue efforts through fundraising events, individual donations and business sponsorships. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made at www.coastalpetrescue.org
