The Savannah Waterfront Association announces the third annual Fine Arts on the River! Prepare yourself for the best of Fine Art, Fine Craft, Fine Performances and Fine Times!
Stroll along historic River Street as Verizon Wireless presents Fine Arts on the River May 2, 3 and 4! The Festival Area stretches along the scenic Savannah River from Olympia Café to Savannah’s Candy Kitchen. The festival opens at 9am each day ending at midnight Friday and Saturday; the festival closes at 6pm on Sunday.
Fine Arts on the River features more than 50 juried artists and crafters displaying and selling their works. Multiple mediums are represented and prizes will be awarded in 8 categories as well as Best of Show. The Festival brings together these artisans, great performances and fun on historic River Street. Whether it’s watching the cargo ships, making your own piece of pottery or enjoying a cool beverage, attendees will experience the romance and beauty of Savannah’s waterfront.
Enthusiasts are invited to bring a blanket or chair (but not a cooler) to the riverside near Savannah’s Candy Kitchen as Savannah Winds performs a Pops concert under the stars Friday evening beginning at 7:30 ending with a flair of patriotism and fireworks over the river. Eat Mo’ Music will follow the concert on the Arbor Stage. Saturday will be filled with music and dance as well as the SkyeLite Jazz Orchestra at 6pm, a Cinco de mayo tribute with The Sam Rodriguez Latin Jazz Explosion at 8pm and groove with Jacey Falk and the Revue at 10:15. Sunday is the perfect time to relax on the waterfront and purchase pieces from your favorite artists.
Other festival attractions include the Key Infinity Car Show, You Do Raku glazing and firing, artist demonstrations and interactive games for kids of all ages! Fine Arts on the River is free and open to the public.
Fine Arts on the River Festival is presented by Verizon Wireless and is sponsored by Miller Lite, Coca-Cola, Wet Willie’s, Wachovia, Savannah College of Art & Design, Yellow Pages.com, Great Vacation Destinations, Savannah Morning News and your friends at Cumulus Broadcasting-Savannah. The River Street Festival Series is produced and hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association, a non profit 501 (c)(3) dedicated to the promotion and preservation of historic River Street.
