American Flags from The Healing Field Fly at Savannah Mall through May 2008

posted by Sandy Traub

Savannah, GA (April 29, 2008) –- Entitled Celebrating Our Freedom, a display of 350 American flags from The Healing Fields Flag Memorial will be flying at Savannah Mall through the month of May.

From April 30 through Memorial Day the quiet salute will honor those who work daily for the cause of American freedom. Extendedly, the emotional display intends to stir awareness and garner help for abused children whose freedoms and pursuits of happiness are trampled or stolen.

“For some these flags can be a poignant reminder to appreciate MORE and to share that appreciation. For others the flags can be a reminder to do MORE, individually and collectively. There are important causes where each citizen can make a difference in our hometown neighborhoods,” Crystal shares.

“New owners of Savannah Mall have a renewed commitment to become more involved in the community,” reports Senea Crystal, marketing manager at Savannah Mall. “Many of us were unaware of the little children who need vigilant champions fighting some of their pretty overwhelming battles. How can anyone sit on the sidelines when a little child needs freedom from abusive pain and neglect?” questions Ms. Crystal. “Savannah Mall is very pleased to sponsor this great cause.”

The Healing Field flags are on loan from The Coastal Empire R.O.C.K Group [Raising Our Children Kindly]. At 3:00 PM on Thursday, May 1, 2008, hundreds of volunteers will tie blue ribbons as reminders of neglected and abused children who need more done to eliminate their suffering.

“The Healing Field Flag Memorial in 2007 caught the hearts of the Coastal Empire as we remembered the 1,513 children who were reported abused in 2006 and honored 338 troops from Hunter/Fort Stewart who were killed in Afghanistan and Iraq,” shares Colette Balder, executive director of The R.O.C.K. Group, a grassroots organization in Savannah.

The grander scale of The Healing Field’s 2008 Flag Memorial will be on display at the Georgia Armory grounds November 8-16, 2008, located at 1248 Eisenhower Drive, Savannah GA. For additional information for that event please contact Colette Balder, executive director of The R.O.C.K. Group.
