Isle of Hope

  • first plantation land belonging to early Savannah colonists
  • later turned into a nineteenth-century summer resort village on Skidaway and Herb Rivers
  • 15-minute drive from downtown

Dutch Island

Long Point

  • purely residential, a gated community home to about 150 families
  • Smack dab in the middle of downtown, Southside and the beach, it’s about 10 to 15 minutes any which way you go
  • Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia Tech Savannah, Armstrong Atlantic University, Savannah Technical College, and South University are close by
  • Single-brick to multi-level homes overlook lagoons and the Wilmington River
  • Prices ranges from $330,000 to $2 million

Wilmington and Talahi Islands

  • these two islands have major advantage – downtown and the beach are right at their sandy little feet
  • Wilmington’s got a good commercial sector with prices ranging from $100 to $200 a square foot for purchase or $8 to $12 a square foot for rental spaces
  • shopping, sports, libraries, post offices and normal services are right there
  • condominiums start at $100,000; residences range from $175,000 to $350,000 for an average single-family home and up to $3.5 million for a luxury waterfront home

Tybee Island

  • got 3 miles of surf and sand and is big on comfort and low on stress
  • Young, old, single, married, conservative, artistic, wealthy, and not so wealthy all see eye-to-eye on this funky, little isle
  • Businesses cater to visitors and guests with a roster of restaurants, hotels, motels, lux condominiums and beach front cottages
  • But it’s also a residential haven for locals and implants. You might even see a white-tailed deer, alligator, raccoon or two
  • Actions speak louder than words: Tybee hosts annual events – the Polar Bear Plunge, Beach Bum Parade, Turtle Trot, and Pirates Fest
  • Anchored (no pun intended) by the Tybrisa Pavilion II and pier, where fishing and people watching are local fare
  • The Tybee Lighthouse, guiding us since 1732
  • Fort Pulaski, a national Georgia monument for its role in the Civil War
  • Wide, all-encompassing arts community
  • 17 miles from downtown and The Savannah College of Art and Design
  • Known for it’s great property value along the eastern seaboard
  • A 500-square-foot condo on the sand starts at $180,000; average price for residences range from $360,000 to $650,000 and top out at $3.5 million for prime real estate
  • Commercial spaces run the gamut. To own, pay anywhere from $300 to $500 a square foot. For rentals you can expect $15 to $25 a square foot
