The mission of the RMHC of the Coastal Empire is to create, find and support programs that directly enhance the health and well-being of children and families.
Our Savannah Ronald McDonald House provides a "Home away from home" for more than 250 families each year with critically ill or injured children.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room in St. Joseph's/Candler hospital provides a haven for families with children in or recieving treatment at St. Joseph's/Candler. And the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is a mobile dental unit on wheels that provides more than 2,500 children each year with dental treatments and examinations.
Although Ronald McDonald House Charities is an independent not-for-profit organization, the McDonald’s Corporation provides support. In every level of the Charity, the involvement from McDonald’s owner/operators, their suppliers, employees and customers is apparent.
The corporation’s involvement extends beyond monetary support. Many franchises partner with local Chapters for promotional and fundraising events. Restaurants also have canister collections at registers and donate proceeds from in-restaurant sales of USA Today.
McDonald’s owner/operators often serve on local RMHC Boards and volunteer with their co-workers and employees at House events.
Although McDonald’s supports the administrative aspects, the Charity belongs to the community, not the company. The support of local groups and organizations, volunteers and corporations is crucial to the ongoing success of RMHC.
In addition, volunteers are the backbone of our organization and are needed to assist with daily/nightly administrative tasks, preparing meals for families, providing weekend relief management for our House manager and more.
