This workshop teaches different properties of oil paint, such as opacity, translucency, drying time, tinting strength and whether it is organic or inorganic. Participants learn how to use a specific color palette that blends the palettes of great masters Peter Paul Rubens and Jan Van Eyck by creating a color chart to use as a reference when painting skin. The workshop also touches on color theory as it applies to paint pigments in color mixing for painting objects other than skin. This course is designed primarily for intermediate painters who want to expand their knowledge of their material and improve their skills at painting skin; however, novice painters also benefit from this in-depth introduction to the paint medium and hands-on experience with mixing it.
