In this workshop, the history of the lightformed image is discussed by means of a chronology of pertinent facts in photographic history. Then the various lighting methods in photography will be discussed, which will be invaluable as you continue to explore your own photography and learn to appreciate different genres of photography. Workshop participants will apply this information to take 100 photographs focusing on light and form, specifically front lighting, back lighting, and side lighting. They will complete the workshop by conducting basic research on photographers who display creative uses of light in their work and identify sources of light, including natural, available, supplemental,and studio lighting.Prerequisites: Basic concepts of camera controls, including the manipulation of focus, shutter speed, ISO, and aperture; digital workflow using Lightroom and the relationship between file organization, importing, exporting, and editing, including printing a contact sheet. Technology Requirements (recommended): a 6.1 megapixel (minimum) digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera, an inkjet printer with the capacity for 8.5` x 11` (standard letter) output, media cards for recording images; at least two are recommended, a card reader (optional) for downloading images.
