Earth, Fire, Air Water:
An integrated, comprehensive approach to a sustainable future
Georgia’s coast and the five coastal river systems are endangered by grave threats that existing institutions, regulations and policies are failing to resolve. In order to restore a healthy environment in Georgia and preserve it for our children, we must recognize that “business as usual” has caused degenerating conditions that will only worsen unless corrected soon.
The public interest is being violated by permits issued on a case by case basis, fragmented and incomplete field assessment, piecemeal and often contradictory Federal, state and local policies, and a virtual absence of long-term planning with cumulative impact analysis.
This forum will consider strategies that support a comprehensive, integrated approach to environmental stewardship and responsible development which effectively addresses the totality of threats to our natural resources. Such an approach seeks to establish sustainable practices by guiding choices related to the use of resources, economic diversification, and community well being.
Expert speakers will address multi-state river basin management, global warming, green infrastructure, and energy production. For more details including a list of topics and speakers visit the Clean Coast website.
