Shop Local Savannah! On Labor Day weekend, Aug 29- 31, there will be a shop
local challenge to engage and educate the citizens of our city. The challenge
was initiated by a group of Savannah College of Art and Design Historic
Preservation students and their professor in order to bring people back
downtown and encourage local economic growth.
Supporting local businesses keeps all of your money in the community, bringing
growth and prosperity to your neighbors and neighborhoods. The effects can be
seen all around, when an effort is made to make a positive change in the every
day routine.
The class has been compiling a list of local business and has started a website
where anyone can blog about their own favorite business, and learn more about
what makes shopping locally so important (www.savlocal.weebly.com).
Businesses are encouraged to write in and get involved in the challenge. Also,
don’t forget to look around town for the Shop Local Challenge posters and
stickers marking the contributing and participating businesses. Thank you for
your time.
