One of these places is the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace (“Birthplace”). Located in the heart of downtown Savannah, Georgia, the site is the childhood home of the Founder of the Girl Scouts.


The Education and Tour Administrator is an essential contributor to the Birthplace team. Responsible for supporting the operational needs of daily educational programs and tours at the site, in particular, the Girl Scout Troop Experience and general tours, The Program Specialist will manage and enhance the flow of communication and information among staff and visitors alike. Specifically, they will oversee program and tour reservations from the time reservations are made by visitors until they leave the site.

You Will

  • Create a daily schedule for the Girl Scout Troop Experience, divide reservations according to age and assign programs and tour times. Assign guide/program staff and classroom to each program.
  • Prepare and distribute daily paperwork for all tours and programs.
  • Work with troop leaders to complete check-in procedures, finalize payment, and orient them to the schedule. Distribute parking passes and pins/patches to troops.
  • Assist Manager of Education and Tours by tracking attendance of guide/program/ticket desk staff and assisting with performance evaluations.
  • Schedule and train Monday check-in staff to ensure smooth operations when absent.
  • Track program supplies and make orders to replenish materials. Assist with sourcing new materials as needed.

Visitor Services:

  • Act as Manager on Duty during working hours, ensuring smooth operations and safety protocol for visitors and staff. Assist with end-of-day cash close-out procedures as needed.
  • Be a designated key holder for the site, responsible for opening and closing the building as needed and following security protocol at all times.
  • Offer training and professional development to front-line staff to improve operating and customer service procedures.
  • Fill in shifts at ticket desk as needed, greeting visitors and selling admissions tickets.
  • Develop and run visitation reports, assisting in data reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Assist in the development of visitor evaluations, manage the collection of visitor evaluations and feedback, managing a system for cataloging responses.

You Need

  • 2+ years of a proven track record in the following areas: supporting professional organizations in an administrative capacity, visitor services, education, customer service, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.

*Must be willing to work a schedule that includes working three Saturdays per month and occasional evening and/or additional hours with pre-authorization from your supervisor.
